From viral hits to massive festival stages, Martin Jensen has become a household name in the world of electronic music. We had the chance to sit down with the internationally acclaimed Danish DJ and producer for an in-depth conversation about his journey, from his early beginnings to becoming a global artist.
In this exclusive interview, Martin opens up about the story behind his success, the lessons he’s learned along the way, and his latest project: HYPEBEAST.

Could you introduce yourself for those who might not know you?
I’m Martin Jensen, international DJ and producer from Denmark! I’ve released on a number of labels across my career including Sony Music, Disco:Wax, Spinnin’ Records, OneSeven, Virgin Music, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s Smash The House and more! People will most likely know me from my breakout single ‘Solo Dance’ that was released almost a decade ago, but right now, I’m preparing to release my ‘HYPEBEAST’ EP!
How did you first get into music and DJing? What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I first got into DJ’ing by building a mobile set-up with friends where we delivered everything for events from setting up lights to sound and myself DJ’ing. You could say I was behind the scenes before I was in front of the audience, before I knew I wanted to take the leap to then move from DJ’ing into producing. One thing people may not know about me is that I was the first ever DJ/ producer to be a judge on X Factor!
Your track “Solo Dance” put you on the global map. What’s the biggest change in your life since “Solo Dance” became a hit?
That track really changed everything for me, ‘Solo Dance’ was the catalyst that then allowed me to actually pursue music full-time as a career. The contracts, managers, tours, travel and a lot more studio time followed which was the biggest change that took this from a hobby, into a career and a lifestyle. That was almost a decade ago now and I’m still so grateful to be able to keep creating music to this day.
Denmark isn’t always the first country that comes to mind in the global dance scene. What has it been like representing your country on such an international scale?
It has been a whirlwind and an honor! As one of the biggest artists to come out of Denmark, especially in electronic music, really shows that you don’t need to be based in London, or LA, or Miami, I made my own way with a combination of hard work and that didn’t happen by chance. I grinded to put in the hours to make my dream come true!

HYPEBEAST: How would you describe this EP in three words?
Fun, inclusive and party-ready!
HYPEBEAST: How long did it take to create the full EP from start to finish?
It was made over many many months, but likely longer if taking into consideration everything from initial ideas to the finished product! It really was a (very fun) labor of love.
HYPEBEAST: What was the most challenging song to produce on the EP, and why?
I didn’t fine one track in particular “challenging” but it was a lot of work to bring together all of the collaborators I wanted to work with and, well, make it work! We took our time making sure nothing was rushed, everyone had their input, ideas and collective voices heard which was a super important part of the process for me. I wanted to make the EP really inclusive through a range of artists across genders, countries and sounds, which I think we really captured, all under the umbrella of house music.
HYPEBEAST: If fans only had time to listen to one track from the EP, which one should they start with, and why?
The title track, of course! I think it is the perfect signifier of where I am right now in my career but it still sounds unapologetically like a Martin Jensen release, all with a fresh spin. I wanted a really hypnotic hook that would reel the listener in and have them singing it for the rest of the day and really thought the sleek R&B and rap vocal delivery brought something super cool to the table, especially alongside the jump-up bassline and fun production.
HYPEBEAST: What’s the most fun part of working with new talent?
The diversity across the board and all unlocking new approaches, it pushes each of us forward as a collective and ultimately, the project of the EP!
You’ve worked with artists from all over the world. How do those international collabs happen?
I have to be a fan of some one, its as simple as that. I don’t care if an artist has a billion streams or 1,000 streams, if I’m really enjoying what they do and feel like its something with a spark, something new and fresh, then that’s exciting to me and that’s the type of artists I want to work with,
You've performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals and venues. How do those live experiences shape the way you approach producing music today?
Travelling and being on the road, experiencing different cultures and sounds and so on, always has an influence on anyone, especially artists and producers that travel so much year-on-year! Playing so many festivals really ignites a new creativity to make things bigger, better and to continue on reaching those audiences.
Any artists you dream of working with?
Taylor Swift, 100%! I’m a massive pop music fan and Taylor Swift would be the crème de la crème – maybe I can remix her someday, who knows…
What advice would you give to young producers starting out today?
Don’t be blinded by the bright lights and don’t be jaded when not everything goes to plan!
